ARIA-nominated South Aussie sisters Germein headline a full afternoon of live music at Stansbury Sounds by the Sea
The Yorke Peninsula’s biggest October long weekend party is back, with Stansbury Sounds by the Sea serving up one of its biggest line-ups yet.
South Aussie sister-trio, Germein, are heading back to where it all began. They’ve played on some of the world’s greatest stages. But on Saturday October 3, they’ll be front and centre at the Stansbury Oval, playing from the back of a truck, under a big country sky.
Joining Germein are Adelaide party favourites Gone Vinyl, energetic folk-rock band Wild Yaks, Yorke Peninsula favourite Karina Voigt, and interactive performer Jobe’s Learn to Beatbox will be keeping younger festival-goers (and plenty of adults) entertained throughout the day.
And the music is only part of the reason people flock to Stansbury every October long weekend.
Markets in the Morning – Music, Food and Fun ‘Til Late
Saturday starts with the hugely popular Stansbury Seaside Markets, drawing visitors from far and wide, before the action shifts to the oval where locals and holidaymakers spread out their chairs, grab a feed, catch up with mates and enjoy live music as the sun goes down.
There’s plenty happening away from the stage too, with all day tickets available for jumping castles, inflatable obstacle courses and sports targets, mini golf, face painting, giant lawn games and a free kids’ tent making it a wholesome family day out.
Food vans including BVV Gourmet, MBC Foods, Spud’s n More and Oh My Grill will be serving up dinner, while a licensed bar will be open throughout the event (no BYO alcohol).
This year, to help cover costs for the expanded entertainment line-up, there’ll be a small cover charge of $15 for pre-booked tickets, or $20 at the gate, with under 18s free.
The event is organised entirely by the volunteer crew from the Stansbury Sports and Community Club, with proceeds going straight back into improving community facilities – another example of country volunteers rolling up their sleeves to put on something special.
If you’re looking for an excuse to head to the Yorke Peninsula this October long weekend, this might just be it. Wander the markets in the morning, spend the afternoon by the coast and finish the day with live music under the stars. It’s the perfect way to spend a long weekend.
