Yorke Peninsula Saltwater Classic – April 18 and 19
Two southern Yorke Peninsula’s gems – Stansbury and Port Vincent – will come alive for a weekend of wooden boats and coastal charm both on the water and off — as the Yorke Peninsula Saltwater Classic returns on April 18–19.
Saturday kicks off in Stansbury, where the foreshore fills with classic wooden boats, vintage cars, caravans, markets and local produce. The Royal Australian Navy Band will be playing on the foreshore, with plenty to see, do and explore.
Then comes one of the standout moments of the weekend.
A flotilla of classic vessels will gather in Oyster Bay before making the trip to Port Vincent. The sound of old engines, timber hulls and the occasional sail catching the breeze – proper nostalgia on the water.
Sunday, Port Vincent plays its part in the Saltwater Classic when the marina opens to the public and the celebrations continue. You can get up close to the boats, check out vintage display and the Into the Blue marine art exhibition at the town institute.
And then — the grand parade! A piper will pipe the boats out of the marina before they glide down the channel and past the wharf for the Blessing of the Fleet.
Since 2003, the Saltwater Classic has brought people together to celebrate the region’s coastal lifestyle — and whether you’re a boat lover or just keen for a great day by the sea, this one’s well worth the trip.
