Locals Invited to Hear From and Question State Election Candidates Ahead of Polling Day

Regional South Australians live with the impact of state decisions every day. From health care and transport to roads, workforce and cost of living pressures, these forums put local concerns directly in front of the people asking for your vote.

These conversations start next month with a series of regional election forums hosted by Grain Producers South Australia across the Yorke Peninsula, Mid North and Eyre Peninsula, giving locals the chance to hear directly from candidates on grain industry priorities and the wider issues affecting everyday life in regional towns ahead of the March election.

Giving Regional Voices a Seat at the Table

GPSA Chief Executive Officer Brad Perry said the forums exist to make sure regional voices are heard.

“These forums are about putting grain producers and regional communities front and centre in the lead-up to the March State election,” Mr Perry said.

“While there will be strong discussion around grain and agriculture-related issues, we’re also opening the floor to a broad cross-section of community questions. Farmers don’t operate in isolation – they rely on strong communities to live, work and play in.”

Mr Perry said GPSA had successfully held similar forums during the 2022 State Election and was pleased to once again provide a space for direct, respectful discussion.

“We’ve invited all declared candidates to attend and participate. These events are not about politics – they’re about transparency, accountability and ensuring regional South Australians have a clear understanding of where candidates stand on the issues that matter to them,” he said.

“We encourage grain producers, local residents, business owners and community members to come along, ask questions and be part of the conversation.”

The forums are free to attend, with registrations encouraged to assist with planning.
