From beasty tractors to giant sandpits, steam trains, and live music — it’s a country carnival like no other
If you love a good excuse…..Price is gearing up for its third annual YP Classic & Vintage Tractor Pull — and let’s just say, this event will pull a crowd.
On August 2 and 3, the tiny saltpan town will roar to life with a double-header of mechanical muscle and country carnival vibes. Vintage tractors will battle it out against “The Challenger” (the club’s beasty sled that sorts the serious pullers from the pretenders), while the crowd gets stuck into a massive lineup of market stalls, blacksmithing demos, amusements and a classic show & shine.
This event just gets bigger every year! And while there’s plenty of big boys toys to see, it’s a whole lot more than just tractors.
There’s a Kids’ Tractor Pull, a sand pit (with 25 tonnes of sand for serious digging), a touch-a-truck zone, face painting, mini steam engine rides, Ollie’s Farm animals, RFDS flight simulator, and even Bob the Builder will make a special appearance. Add more than a dozen food trucks, live music from 90’s cover band Gen X, and onsite camping, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a weekend.
Among the tractor pull challengers, seven local women have signed up to take on the sled with their vintage beasts — and we’re here for it!
This year brings a beautiful new addition. You can help paint a tractor “Massy Ferguson” blue for mental health, thanks to the SOS Yorkes, with the tractor set to travel the region raising awareness. Lifeline will also be there with a good old-fashioned gumboot throw, because nothing says mental health awareness in the country like flinging some footwear.
The giant tractor rally is a biannual event, run by the passionate crew at the YP Classic & Vintage Tractor Pull Club — born from a convo between a local farmer and truckie, and built by volunteers who just keep pulling together.
