$500,000 Port Vincent Jetty Renewal Complete As Ardrossan Reopens And Edithburgh Awaits Upgrade
Investment in Yorke Peninsula’s coastal infrastructure is continuing, with Port Vincent’s Fisherman’s Jetty officially reopening following a $500,000 renewal.
The project comes on the back of the recent reopening of Ardrossan Jetty after its own refurbishment, while major renewal works at Edithburgh are next on the list as part of the South Australian Government’s ongoing SA Jetties Renewal Program.
The new-look Port Vincent Fisherman’s Jetty replaces a structure that had been closed following damage, delivering a safer and more accessible asset for the local community and the many visitors who enjoy the popular seaside town each year.

A key feature of the rebuild is its new flat deck, replacing the previous structure which sloped towards the water. The improved design not only enhances accessibility and functionality but has also been built with the potential for a future extension should the need arise.
The 33-metre-long jetty has been constructed using 16 supporting piles and 32 concrete deck slabs, creating a strong and durable structure designed to serve the community for generations to come.
Yorke Peninsula Council Mayor Kylie Gray said the renewed jetty would continue to play an important role for both locals and visitors.
“The Fisherman’s Jetty is an important piece of infrastructure for the Port Vincent community and its visitors, and this renewal provides a strong foundation for its future,” Mayor Gray said.
“The new flat deck will improve the functionality of the jetty, while the design also gives us the opportunity to extend the structure in the future should the need arise.
“We are grateful for the support provided through the SA Jetties Renewal Program, which has helped Council deliver this important project.”

Yorke Peninsula Council successfully secured funding through the State Government program after applying in late 2023 following damage that forced the jetty’s closure. The application was approved in mid-2024, allowing the project to progress.
The SA Jetties Renewal Program is helping preserve some of South Australia’s most treasured coastal landmarks, ensuring they remain safe and accessible for future generations while continuing to support tourism, recreational fishing and local communities.
With Ardrossan now reopened, Port Vincent welcoming visitors back onto its renewed jetty and major works set to begin at Edithburgh, the investment is continuing to strengthen some of Yorke Peninsula’s best-loved coastal destinations.
