NWB, a brand-new riverside hangout just outside Morgan, has become the go-to stop for boaties, locals and travellers chasing good food, cold drinks and sweeping Murray River views.
Set within the historic grounds of Nor’ West Bend Station, the venue sits on a sweeping bend where the Murray takes its sharp turn south. The heritage-listed former sheep and cattle station dates back to 1850. Its revival has breathed new life into a site that holds deep significance for the region.
Pull up in a Speed Boat or Roll in to NWB by Road
Owners Lisa and David Goodland, who purchased the property in 2020, have transformed the riverfront into a relaxed, family-friendly café and bar.
It’s a place designed to welcome everyone. You can pull up in your speedboat, tie up a houseboat, paddle in by kayak or simply arrive by road, making NWB one of the most accessible river stops along this stretch of the Murray.
Once there, the pace slows right down. NWB serves up homemade wood-fired pizzas, generous grazing platters, local beers and wines, with plenty of space to spread out. Spacious lawns roll down toward the water, dotted with Bali-style huts and shady spots that invite you to settle in for the afternoon.
At the heart of the venue is a beautifully restored old barn, carefully reworked into a unique bar area that retains the bones and character of the original structure. It’s a thoughtful blend of history and modern comfort, and a reminder of the station’s long working life on the river.
Since opening in November, NWB has quickly become one of the Murray’s hottest properties, drawing steady crowds throughout the summer break and earning rave reviews.
