Fill Your Silo – Navigate Tough Seasons with Support From the Experts
Recent years have been tough on farming families and rural communities. Long hours, uncertainty and the constant juggle of business, family and community life can take their toll. That’s why Fill Your Silo, Navigating Tough Seasons is about bringing people together for an evening that’s practical, supportive and real.
Hosted at The River Block, Bookpurnong, this free wellbeing session is led by Steph Schmidt — a farmer, mum and registered psychologist who understands life on the land first-hand. Steph specialises in helping rural people manage stress and build tools to stay well, even when the season ahead looks challenging.
Using the “silo” metaphor, Steph will guide the group through:
- How stress shows up in our minds, bodies and relationships
- Simple ways to notice what’s draining us, and what fills us back up
- Practical coping strategies for tough times
- Ideas for checking in on ourselves and each other
The evening also offers a chance to hear from Rural Business Support and FaB Mentor representatives, with information and resources available for anyone wanting extra support.
And because nothing brings people together like food, a hearty BBQ dinner will be supplied (just bring your own drinks). It’s an opportunity not only to learn, but to connect, share experiences and walk away with fresh ideas for looking after yourself and your community.
