Leah and Alby Trotta are “the spirit of the Flinders” and they’ve just unveiled their first Flinders Whisky
The go-getters behind one of regional South Australia’s best-loved distilleries are celebrating another milestone, officially releasing their very first whisky this Father’s Day.
After an incredibly strong pre-release, Flinders Gin founders Leah and Alby Trotta have opened sales of Flinders Whisky – Cask 001, the first whisky ever distilled and matured at their Quorn distillery.
Matured for two years and three months in hand-charred oak, the inaugural release has developed rich notes of chocolate, toffee and char. Just one of the first four casks has been released, with the remaining three continuing to mature before future releases.

Same Passion – New Chapter for Flinders Gin
When Greater SA recently visited the Flinders Gin distillery, it was impossible not to admire the passion Leah and Alby have poured into building their business. While they’re already well known for their distinctive range of gins inspired by the Flinders Ranges, we were equally impressed by something a little unexpected – their own handcrafted tonic.
Believe it or not, it might just be one of the best tonic waters we’ve tasted. Designed to complement, rather than overpower, the unique outback botanicals in their gin, it’s another example of the attention to detail that Leah and Alby put into everything they do.
That same commitment to quality is now carrying through to their latest release – Flinders Whisky Cask 001. Each 500mL bottle is individually numbered and presented with a certificate of authenticity, while Flinders Gin’s signature Devil’s Peak logo is moulded into the base of every bottle.
Leah said the response to the pre-release had been “incredibly strong”, and the team was excited to officially open sales to the public from Father’s Day.
For the Trotters, Cask 001 isn’t just another bottle on the shelf. It’s the beginning of a new chapter for a regional business that continues to prove what passion, patience and a willingness to have a go can achieve.
Cask 001 will be officially released on Father’s Day, Sunday 6 September 2026. Collection from the Flinders Gin Distillery is available from release day, with shipped orders dispatching from Monday 7 September.
