Cape Jervis Hosts A Weekend Of Racing and Family Fun

If you thought lawn mowers were only built for backyard battles with knee-high grass, think again.

Cape Jervis is firing things up on Saturday, May 23, as the Cape Jervis Fete joins forces with the “Cut It At The Cape” Lawn Mower Races for a day packed with revving engines, family fun and good old-fashioned country hospitality.

Held on Ransford Street, the event kicks off from 10am, with gates opening from 9am, and for just a gold coin donation, you’ll score a front-row seat to all the mower madness.

The racing is expected to bring plenty of action as modified mowers rip around the track at speeds your average backyard Victa could only dream about.

But there’s plenty more happening than fast laps and flying dirt.

The Cape Jervis Fete will also feature market stalls, live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, face painting and kids entertainment, including Farmer Darcy’s Travelling Farm.

Visitors can grab a coffee, tuck into a sausage sizzle or Devonshire tea, and settle in for a laid-back day by the coast while the racers cut laps instead of lawns.

Whether you’re there for the horsepower, the hot donuts or just the fun of watching ride-on mowers fly around a dirt track, Cape Jervis is shaping up for a cracking day out.
