Vote now and give your favourite Ag Town a shot at the title
With drought biting hard across much of the state, there’s never been a better time to recognise the towns that keep on keeping on – for their farms, their families, and each other.
The 2025 Agricultural Town of the Year Award is back, and a record-breaking 97 towns have been nominated. It’s a timely reminder of the grit and community spirit that runs deep in our regions, especially as so many towns continue to pull together through one of the toughest seasons on record.
From Minnipa on the Eyre Peninsula to Mylor in the Adelaide Hills and Bordertown in the South East, these nominations reflect the best of regional South Australia – towns that not only grow our food but support their people every step of the way.
Public voting is now open, with the top ten towns receiving the most votes moving through to the next stage. Voting closes Friday, 20 June, so if there’s a town you reckon deserves a shout-out, now’s your chance to back them in.
From there, the top ten will put together a written submission, with a judging panel assessing their contributions to agriculture, community strength, and local leadership. Three finalists will get a visit, and one will take out the 2025 title.
“South Australia’s regional towns are the heart of our state – driving innovation, food production, and economic strength across the board, and the Agricultural Town of the Year Award is a great way to recognise these incredible communities and the vital role they play across SA,” Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Clare Scriven added.
This award is about more than yields and livestock numbers – it’s about the tenacity, creativity and community spirit that keeps regional towns thriving, especially in times like these.
