Western United Make It 50 on the Trot

Western United have done it — 50 wins in a row — but it didn’t come easy.

After tipping a 30-point win last week… it turned into a beauty, with the Blues pushing them all the way before Western United got home by 9.

Round 2 Results

  • Western United def. Ceduna Blues by 9
  • West Coast Hawks def. Wirrulla by 9
  • Koonibba def. Thevenard by 30

Round 3 Game of the Day — LIVE from Streaky Bay

This week SA Regional Footy heads to Streaky Bay Oval, with West Coast Hawks taking on Ceduna Blues.

  • Hawks scraped over the line last week
  • Blues just fell short against the benchmark

Plenty of eyes will be on ex-Crow Brodie Smith and whether he can have a real impact. No doubt the Blues are working on a “shut down plan” to reduce his disposal count.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Ceduna Blues by 30 (but expect a contest)

Other Round 3 Match Ups

  • Western United v Koonibba
Western United likely to make 51 in a row at home
  • Wirrulla v Thevenard
Wirrulla slight favourites on the home turf

Home Ground Advantage the Theme on the Adelaide Plains This Week

Balaklava got the job done in last week’s Game of the Day — and then some.

After tipping an 18-point win, the Peckers made a statement, getting home by 40.

Round 2 Results

  • Hamley Bridge lost to Balaklava
  • Angle Vale def Hummocks Watchman Eagles
  • Virginia Lost to Two Wells
  • United lost to Mallala

Round 3 Game of the Day — Port Wakefield Oval

This week’s spotlight heads to Port Wakefield, with Hummocks Watchman Eagles taking on Hamley Bridge.

  • HWE still chasing their first win
  • Hamley Bridge sitting in 4th place with a win round 1 win over United

It’ll be the closest game of the round – an important game at this early stage of the season.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: HWE by 12 (in a beauty)

Other Round 3 Match Ups
I’m going with the home teams –

  • Balaklava v United
  • Two Wells v Angle Vale
  • Mallala v Virginia

Four Big Games This Weekend in the BLG

I tipped the Tigers by 12 points last week… they got the job done by 11. Close enough!

Round 2 Results

  • Tanunda def Barossa District
  • Angaston lost to Nuriootpa
  • South Gawler def Willaston
  • Freeling lost to Kapunda

Round 3 Game of the Day — Just How Much Have Kapunda Improved?

This week we’ll potentially find out when they head to South Gawler.

Sure it’s VERY early days, but both teams are undefeated and sitting at the top of the ladder. It’s got all the makings of a beauty. I hope it lives up to the high expectations. It could go either way.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Sticking with the Home Team Theme — South Gawler by less than 10

Other Round 3 Match Ups
All could be labelled Game of the Day!

  • Freeling v Tanunda
Both 1 win–1 loss to start the season
  • Willaston v Angaston
Both chasing their first win of 2026
  • Gawler Central v Barossa Districts
Always a good contest, no matter what the position

Red Hot Ranges Sitting on 404.5 percent

Central Eyre proved me wrong in last week’s Game of the Day tip, defeating Ports by 20.

Round 2 Results

  • Central Eyre United def. Ports
  • Ranges def. Cowell (by 157p)

Round 3 Game of the Day — Ranges v Kimba

In recent times, it’s always been the rivalry clash — Ranges v Kimba Tigers.

Kimba will host at the Corey Enright Oval, coming off the BYE, while the Ranges roll in red hot with a staggering percentage of 404.5 after wins of 50 and 157 points.

This week should be a much tighter contest with Kimba coming off the bye.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Ranges by 21

Other Round 3 Match Up

  • Cowell v Ports
Cowell’s first home game of the season, both sides chasing their first taste of victory. This will be a good contest – definitely worth the entry fee.

2025 Grand Finalists – Favourites For Round 2 Double Header

No tip was given for round one, but we saw the Olympic Dam Devils get up by 117 points over East Roxby, And in the Grand Final re-match, the Minders defeated Hornridge by 40 points.

Round 2 Game of the Day — Devils v Miners

The double header at Roxby Downs Oval will see both Grand Finalists from last year as favourites.

Hornridge take on East Roxby in the 4pm game on Saturday. But in the Game of the Day, the Devils, after a big win last week, will take on last years premiers AND last week’s other winners.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Miners JUST. I’m expecting a contest that will see a 24 point win to the Miners…The Devils looked really good last week so my tip could come back to slap me in the face.

Great Flinders Roll into Round Four

In last week’s Game of the Day I backed Elliston Districts by 15 points – but it was the Cummins Ramblers who took the win by 52 points.

Round 3 Results

  • Elliston Districts lost to Cummins Ramblers
  • Cummins Kappinie lost to United Yeelanna
  • Tumby Bay def Eyre United

Round 4 Game of the Day — Cummins Ramblers v Lock

Four teams have two wins next to their names and the remaining three teams are winless. With that in mind the game of round four will be Lock heading to Cummins to take on the Ramblers. This will be a “must watch” contest and the Ramblers will be keen to see where they stand when taking on “the measuring stick”.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Last year’s champs, the Lock Roos by 24 points.

Other Round 4 Match Ups

  • Eyre United v Cummins Kapinnie (at Ungarra)
  • United Yeelanna v Elliston Districts (Karkoo Oval) – United fresh off a 4-point win and Elliston yet to put a win on the board…Game on!

Round Two on Kangaroo Island

Round 1 Results

  • Western Districts def Parndana
  • Kingscote def Dudley United

Round 2 Game of the Day — Wisanger v Parndana

The game at Wisanger is what I’m thinking will be the G.O.T.D. It’s tough to know what to expect, but according to my sources, Parndana looked pretty good last week

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Tough one to tip with an unseen Wisanger but I’ll tip Parndana by 12 points.

Other Round 2 Match Up

Dudley United v Western Districts (at Penneshaw) – The visitors will be a strong favourite.

A Close Round Ahead in the NEFL

Last Week my Game of the Day Tip was Min.Man by 21p  – The result – Min.Man defeated Southern Saints 87-57 ✅

Round 2 Results

  • RSMU def Blyth-Snowtown
  • BBH lost to BSR
  • North Clare lost to South Clare
  • Southern Saints lost to Min Man

Round 3 Game of the Day — All Eyes on the Eagles and Tigers

Min Man Eagles head to Redhill to take on the strength of the BSR TIgers. Longbottoms, Morgan, Lee, Hayes, (the list goes on) vs Riggs, McShane, Nichols, Sandow (and that list goes on too). Both teams are stacked with class, both teams with two good wins, and the last time they played was the 2025 Grand Final.
A re-match which will be a “must watch” clash.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: My tip is the same as the GF result. The Tigers by 12 points (with no confidence).

Other Round 2 Match Ups

  • Blyth Snowtown v North Clare (at Snowtown) – and I’ll pick the Cats by two goals.
  • Southern Saints v BBH (Eudunda) – the Saints by a bit.
  • South Clare v RSMU – I expect the Hawks to take home the win, but it will be close.

REMINDER – RSMU amalgamation 50 year reunion, Saturday May 9, 7pm. Players, sponsors, supporters, volunteers or community members – this will be a great night out with fantastic food and live music.

Top Spot on the Line and Southern Flinders to Face a Grumpy Rooster

Last Week my Game of the Day Tip was Crystal Brook by less than 10p    BMW defeated Crystal Brook by 2 points, 96-94 in a classic.

Round 2 Results

  • BMW def Crystal Brook
  • Orroroo lost to Jamestown Peterborough
  • Southern Flinders lost to Broughton Mundoora

Round 3 Game of the Day — Top Shelf Contest at Wilmington

This week BMW will feature in the Game of the Day again – up against top of the table Jamestown/Peterborough (which hasn’t been said for a while in recent years).
This contest will be absolutely top shelf with both sides full of skilled players both new and old and both in good form early in the season. It’s the top of the table clash. Top spot is on the line, and it might only be round three, but whoever wins will head the ladder a game clear.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: BMW on their Wilmington home turf will get it done by less than 10 points in an absolute cracker.

Other Round 2 Match Ups

  • Broughton Mundoora v Orroroo – Orroroo will need to kick start their season soon, but Broughton Mundrooa have started well. Both teams are filled with class. This will be another beauty.
  • Crystal Brook v Southern Flinders – Crystal Brook don’t like losing, and after last week’s close loss to BMW, South Flinders might front up to a grumpy Rooster ready to peck whatever comes their way. Crystal Brook on their home turf – they’ll be keen to flex their muscles.

A Closely Contested Round to Kick Off Exciting Season

Round 1 Results

  • Lincoln South lost to Marble Range
  • Boston lost to Mallee Park (under lights in a one point thriller)

Round 2 Game of the Day — Marble Range v Mallee Park

Marble Range at Wangary Oval will play Mallee Park, in what I’m thinking will be the Game of the Day. Both teams won close ones to start the season last week. All three round one games were nice and close, with margins all under 10 points, which points to a great 2026 season.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: Marble Range by 30 points.

Other Round 2 Match Ups

  • Boston v Wayback (Poole Oval) – both coming off cliff-hanger losses and keen to get their first W.
  • Lincoln South v Tasman Imperial (Centenary Oval)

Port Augusta Sides on the Up in 2026

Round 1 Results

  • Port def South Augusta
  • Central Augusta lost to West Augusta
  • Prop/Risdon lost to Solomontown

Round 2 Game of the Day — South v Prop/Risdon

South Augusta is my pick for Game of the Day, when they take on Prop/Risdon. By all reports, South showed a good deal of improvement in last week’s clash with Port.

🏉 Chook’s Tip: South by 18 points.

Other Round 2 Match Ups

  • Solomontown v West Augusta – the class of the Sollies means they’ll go into most 2026 games as favourites
  • Central Augusta v Ports (Etsa Oval) – Ports look good, and their recruiting team will be happy. Inside word is that all Port Augusta teams have worked hard with good signs already showing. This will be a good game.

Chook Tips Roopena to Turn The Tables

Last Weeks Game of the Day Tip…Roopena by 6 points…✅..The Roos defeated Central Whyalla by 22 points.

Round 1 Results

  • North Whyalla dec Weeroona Bay
  • Roopena def Central Whyalla
  • West Whyalla def South Whyalla

Round 2 Game of the Day — Friday Night Footy

Starting at 8pm Friday night South Whyalla will take on the Roopena side who looked pretty good last week. South lost in a cliff-hanger last week, but this match will be a nice close one. This is the one I’ll tip on to get my weekend off to a flyer.

 🏉 Chook’s Tip: Roopena by 10 points.

Other Round 2 Match Ups

  • North v West (Memorial Oval)
  • Weeroona Bay v Central Whyalla

Another Battle of the Birds on the Yorke Peninsula

Last Weeks Game of the Day Tips…Paskeville by 17 points and the CMS Crows by 9 points ✅✅
Pasky got the job done over Bute by 33 and the Crows defeating Southern Eagles by 19.

Round 3 Results
Central Yorke def Ardrossan
Wallaroo lost to Moonta
CMS Crows def Southern Eagles
Paskeville def Bute

Round 4 Game of the Day — Roosters v Crows

Another “Battle of the Birds” with the Bute Roosters taking on the CMS Crows this weekend. I’m picking this one as the Game of the Day for Round 4 I expect the Crows to be too good BUT I think it will be closer than many would think.

 🏉 Chook’s Tip: Crows by 18 points

Other Round 4 Match Ups

  • Southern Eagles v Wallaroo – Although losing to the reining premiers last week, the Eagles have started the season pretty well with their sprinkling of new recruits performing at a high standard.
  • Ardrossan v Paskeville – Paskeville are only one of two teams in the league that are undefeated at this early stage, and I expect them to stay that way coming up against the struggling Ardrossan side.
  • Kadina v Central Yorke – Kadina is the other team without an L next to their name. I think the CY Cougars will be very competitive, but Kadina, fresh off the bye will be firing on all cylinders to keep the W at home. It should be a goodie!
